The clubs Intermediate team won their opening game of the league yesterday evening with a hard fought victory over Gortlettragh in Gortlettragh.

On a perfect evening for football both sides served a very entertaining contest. For most of the game this game was nip and tuck with both sides exchanging scores. Gortlettragh looked like they were going to go in ahead at half as they lead by two points with two minutes left in the half. A goal by Padraig Sweeney put Glenfarne/Kilty into the lead only for Cathal McCrann to ensure the sides went in level at the break on a scoreline of 1-3 to 0-6.

Both sides continued to exchange scores in the early stages of the second before a dominant patch for Gortlettragh go into a two point lead. A well worked point from Padraig Sweeney cut the gap to the minimum. A well taken goal by Shane McLoughlin gave Glenfarne/Kilty a two point lead. With Dermot O’Rourke and Fergal Clancy dominating the midfield, the defence lead by Sean McManus at full back on top and the impressive Padraig Sweeney and Enda Gallagher providing a platform in attack, Glenfarne/Kilty closed out the game for a well deserved victory on a scoreline of 2-7 to 0-12.

Our minor team will hopefully kick off their Minor League campaign on Sunday afternoon.

They are scheduled to play Aughavas at home in Glenfarne on Sunday at 12 noon.

Last weekends game in Bornacoola was called off due to snow on the pitch.

Our Intermediate team kick off their Division 2 League campaign this Saturday evening.

They play Gortletteragh in Gortletteragh at 4.30pm.

Our Minor team kick off their 2010 league campaign with an away game to Bornacoola.

The game throws in at 12 noon. We wish Francie and the team the best of luck in this competition.

Former chairman of the club Padraig McGourty was last night elected to the position of Assistant Secretary of Coiste NaOg Contae Liatrioma.

He has served as PRO of Coiste NaOg for the last four years. Barbara Beirne from the Glencar/Manorhamilton club replaces him as PRO for 2010.

The Girls Underage Football meeting will be held in Cullentragh Centre on Tuesday, 23rd February 2010 at 8pm. All girls and parents are welcome.

Last year the club fielded teams at the Under 12 and Under 14 grades.

The Minor League will kick off next Sunday.

Groupings and fixtures will be made available following tonights CCC meeting.
